Tempe police seek attacker in elevator assault

Police said they are looking for a man seen on a security video viciously attacking another man in an elevator in Tempe in the early morning hours on Saturday.

Police are offering $1,000 to anyone with tips on the aggravated assault of a 21-year-old man at about 2 a.m. Saturday morning at W-6 Townhomes at 121 W. Sixth St. in Tempe.

The suspect followed the victim into an elevator and punch him multiple times in the head, police said. The suspect punched the victim 15 more times as he laid unconscious on the floor, police said.

The suspect is a White man who appears to be in his early 20s. He is about 6-feet tall has short, dark brown hair. The suspect was wearing a blue T-shirt with a white logo, blue jeans and white athletic shoes, according to a description and video released by police.

Police are looking for another man they called a person of interest, who met the suspect in the lobby after the attack. He is an African American man who appears to be in his early 20s and is about six-feet tall with a medium build and short hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt.
